VN-Index up, HaSTC-Index down slightly

Ho Chi Minh City's bourse rose slightly while its Ha Noi-based counterpart reported a modest decline by the end of the day's trading on June 19.

The VN-Index at the country's largest exchange in Ho Chi Minh City tacked on 5.59 points from the previous session or 0.54% to close at 1049.58 points.

A total of 8.6 million shares, worth more than 896.11 billion VND, were traded during the course of the session.

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank (STB) recorded the largest trade volume with 638,990 shares being brought and sold, it was followed by Financing and Promoting Technology Corporation (FPT) with 299,170 shares, Lam Dong Building Material Co (LBM) with 257,950 shares and Pha Lai Thermal Power Co (PPC) with 251,600 shares.

In other news, the State Securities Commission (SSC) is to make public an investigation to determine whether Binh Dinh Mining Company (BMC) and Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TCT) have been artificially inflating their stock price.

During the course of session, BMC, TCT and Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Company (DHG) saw the largest buying orders and were also among the top five in terms of price gains.

Meanwhile, Saigon Hotel (SGH), Electric Equipment and Installation Firm Full Power (FPC), Hoa Binh Rubber (HRC), Nam Viet Joint Stock Company (NAV) and Sea and Air Freight International ( SFI ) were among the big losers on the day.

Due to the declining prices of 53 shares, the HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre slid 2.06 points from its last session to finish at 313.14 points,

On the day, 1.1 million shares, worth 129.6 billion VND, changed hands at the Ha Noi bourse.

Blue chip share Saigon Securities (SSI) again led the market in terms of transaction volume with 180,800 shares changing hands on the day, followed by the ACB with 116,100 shares.

The newly listed Cho Lon Real Estate (CRL) continued to rise sharply by tacking on 20,100 VND to its listed price despite the downward trend of the market.
