Both the Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi stock exchanges reported losses by the end of the August 2 trading session after rallying for gains on the previous day.
The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre dropped by 11.96 points or 1.3 percent to close at 911.18 points.
Close to 5.33 million shares worth 495.6 billion VND (31 million USD) were traded during the course of the session.
The capital’s HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre saw a slight decrease of 1.48 points to finish at 258.52 points, with 1.26 million stocks worth 111.8 billion VND (7 million USD) changing hands on the day.
Thirty-three shares rose, 30 declined, 16 recorded no transactions and eight remained unchanged.
But Son Cement Company (BTS), Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Bim Son Cement Company (BCC), Minh Phu Seafood Company (MPC) and Tien Phong Plastic Company (NTP) led the market in terms of transaction volume.
