Indexes slide at both bourses

Both the Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi bourses recorded drops by the end of the August 3 trading session.

By closing, the VN-Index at the HCM City Securities Trading Centre had decreased 18.3 points or two percent to finish at 892.88 points.

Despite the sharp fall in VN-Index, the total transaction volume and value at the HCM City bourse increased with more than 5.7 million shares, worth over 610.7 billion VND, were traded.

Among 83 shares that recorded losses were the most sought-after stocks such as Binh Dinh Mining (BMC), Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) and Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TCT) which had 11,000-12,000 VND wiped off their listed prices.

Although the fall in price, FPT led the market in terms of transaction volume with 59,195 shares being traded, followed by Vietnam Investment Fund (VF1), Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank (STB) and Song Da Urban and Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS).

Tuong An oil (TAC) topped the list of big movers, up 4,000 VND to close at 114,000 VND per share, followed by Da Nang Rubber (DRC) and Saigon Garment Manufacturing (GMC).

The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre fell 2.57 points to close at 255.95 points with 13 stocks gaining, 52 stocks falling and 22 remained unchanged.

Today's trading volume and value fell slightly with 825,200 shares, worth 81.1 billion VND, changing hands.
