VN-Index exceeds 900-point mark again

The Ho Chi Minh City bourse continued its mild recover as it broke through the 900-point mark while its Ha Noi-based counterpart lost value again by the end of the August 8 morning trading session.

The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre jumped 13.14 points to finish at 910.05 points.

By closing, nearly 4.5 million shares, worth close to 483 billion VND, were traded during the day. 48 shares rallied for gains, 41 remained unchanged and 23 fell.

Blue-chip shares like the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank (STB), Pha Lai Thermal Power Co. (PPC) and Song Da Urban and Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS) were among stocks to lead the market in trading volume.

Binh Dinh Minerals (BMC) topped the list of gainers by tacking 16,000 VND onto its listed prices, followed by Kinh Do Corp. (KDC), Tay Ninh Cable Tour (TCT), FPT and SJS.

Meanwhile, Viettronics Tanbinh Joint Stock Company (VTB), Lugia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC), Saigon Fuel Company (SFC) and Tan Tien Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company (TTP) were among the biggest losers on the day.

The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre dropped 1.36 points to finish at 254.75 points. More than 603,000 shares, worth over 57 billion VND, changed hands.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) topped the market in terms of transaction volume with 142,400 shares being traded during the day.
