Blue chips lifeless as FPT rumours fly

"The downtrend in high-end stocks like FPT or STB does not prove that blue chips are unattractive to investors anymore," said Vo Ngoc Huy, deputy manager of Sacombank Securities’ brokerage department.

FPT fell partially on bourse gossip over whether the company’s deputy chairman Hoang Minh Chau would offload shares.

Chau, who owns more than three million FPT shares, confirmed in an interview he had petitioned market regulators yesterday morning to sell 225,000 shares.

"The petition means that I will have the right to sell shares at any time from July 23, but I will not sell immediately," said Chau, adding the sale should not impact the market since the volume was quite small.
