Both bourses continued their downward trends

The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Trading Centre dropped by 2.08 points, or 0.21 percent to close at 979.23 points.

The bourse’s trading value for the day totalled 444.2 billion VND.

Blue chips Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TCT), Binh Dinh Mining (BMC) and Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) recorded the biggest losses during the day, having between 10,000 VND and 14,000 VND wiped off their listed prices.

Deputy Chairman of FPT management board Hoang Minh Chau contributed to the fall in FPT prices by selling off 225,000 of his 3,056,175 FPT shares.

With Hoang's dumping of stock it came as no surprise that FPT led the market in traded volume for the day.

The Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre (HaSTC) also fell as 32 listed shares on the exchange recorded drops, 33 rallied for gains and nine remained unchanged.

By closing, the HaSTC slid by 0.36 points to finish at 267.06 points with more than 742,100 shares worth more than 76.5 billion VND traded.

Saigon Securities (SSI) led the market in terms of transaction volume with 183,600 shares worth 28.5 trillion VND.
