Vietnamese indices continue to sink

Both the Ho Chi Minh City’s bourse and its Ha Noi-based counterpart reported drops by the end of the day’s trading on July 19.

By closing, the VN-Index at the HCM City Securities Trading Centre had decreased 10.3 points or one percent to finish at 984.43 points.

Almost 3.87 million shares, worth more than 348.28 billion VND changed hands with 40 stocks gaining and 48 falling over the course of the session.

Blue chips Binh Dinh Mining (BMC), the Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TCT), Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG) and Song Da Urban and Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS) recorded the biggest losses during the day, by having between 20,000 VND and 13,000 VND wiped off their listed prices.

Southern Food (SFC), Tuong An Vegetable Oil (TAC), Vien Lien (UNI), Hai Phong Paper (HAP) and Bibica (BBC) topped the list of big movers at the session.

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Bank (STB) led the market in term of transaction volume with 362,620 shares being traded, followed by Viet Fund (VFMVF1), Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), Pha Lai Power Co (PPC) and Ha Tien Transportation (HTV).

The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre fell 1.79 points from the previous session to finish at 268.05 points. 22 shares rallied for gains, 44 stocks fell gaining and five remained unchanged.

Trading volume increased as 697,600 shares, worth more than 63.4 billion VND were traded.

Hacinco (HSC) continued to lead the charge up the ladder by tacking on 18,600 VND to its listed price of 217,200 VND.

Saigon Securities (SSI) and Asian Commercial Bank (ACB) had 130,400 shares and 91,500 shares traded respectively that accounted for 32 percent of the market’s total transaction volume.
