VN-Index drops to below 1,000 points

Ho Chi Minh City has again on decline by the end of the July 16 trading session, as the VN-Index slipped by 19.9 points to finish at 995.83 points.

Eighty-four stocks, including blue-chippers such as Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG), Binh Dinh Minerals (BMC), Tay Ninh Cable Tour (TCT) and Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), recorded losses at the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Centre.

During the session, nearly 4.18 million shares worth over 444 billion VND changed hands.

After reporting a slight increase late last week, the HaSTC-index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre, on July 16, experienced a decline of 6.78 points to finish at 270.59 points.

Nearly 892,000 shares, valued at more than 93 billion VND, were traded at the session, with 15 shares rallying for gains, 17 remaining unchanged and 55 others falling.

Saigon Securities (SSI) and Asia Bank (ACB) led the market in terms of transaction volume.
