VN-Index drops, HaSTC-Index rebounds

The Ho Chi Minh City bourse continued to drop while its Ha Noi-based counterpart rebounded by the end of the July 6 morning trading session.

The VN-Index at the HCM City Securities Trading Centre slumped by 2.29 points to finish at 1,010.59 points. By closing, close to 6.9 million shares, worth more than 856 billion VND were traded.

Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate (HBC) topped the list of big movers, up 6,000 VND to finish at 129,000 VND per share, followed by Tan Tao Industrial Zone Development Company (ITA) and Tay Ninh Cable Car Tour (TAC).

Meanwhile, the list of companies losing significant value during the day still witnessed the presence of blue chip stocks like Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG), Binh Dinh Mining (BMC), Binh Minh Plastics (BMP), Lu Gia Mechanical and Engineering (LGC) and Viet Nam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (VNM).

The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre spiked by 4.6 points to finish at 268.13 points. A total of 879,900 shares, worth 95.43 billion VND changed hands.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) and Asian Commercial Bank (ACB) led the market in terms of the transaction volume with 247,800 shares and 151,600 shares being traded, respectively.

Investors are concerned that unless there are corrections to the markets Viet Nam's stock market golden age is now behind it. Investment opportunities do remain according to analysts but capital sources have been limited due to new government sponsored regulations that have prompted investors to become more cautious.
