Both the Ho Chi Minh City's bourse and its Ha Noi-based counterpart reported losses by the end of the August 6 trading session.
By closing, HCM City's VN-Index dipped by 8.98 points, or 1 percent, to close at 883.9 points.
Only 3.69 million shares, worth over 328 billion VND, changed hands during the course of the trading session.
Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment and Development (SJS), Royal International (RIC), Khanh Hoi Import Export (KHA), Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG) and Saigon Hotel Corporation (SGH) were among the biggest losers.
The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre also fell as 42 listed shares recorded drops, 26 saw no trades and 17 rallied for gains.
By closing, the HaSTC slid by 1.48 points to finish at 254.47 points with 993,400 shares, worth over 89 billion VND, traded.
Big movers on the day included Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), Minh Phu Seafood Corp. (MPC), Bim Son Cement JSC (BCC), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and Nui Beo Coal JSC (NBC).
