VN-Index and HaSTC-Index continue upward swings

The VN-Index closed at 1,066.56 points by the end of trading on May 18, after gaining 6.77 points.

Binh Minh Minerals Company (BMC) again led the charge finishing the day at 807,000 VND per share, 38,000 VND higher than the previous session. The company has been one of the year's success stories, increasing its stock value 16 fold since coming onto the bourse at 50,000 VND with its first IPO on December 26, 2006.

By closing, nearly 6.4 million shares worth 751.982 billion VND were traded at the Ho Chi Minh City bourse, with 53 stocks rallying for gains, 29 showing no change and 27 falling.

The HaSTC-Index at the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre also closed slightly up to finish on 337.87 points.

Today's trading saw 2.1 million shares changed hands, a rise of 33% over the May 17 session.

The VN-Index has been on a big upswing since April 24 when it fell to just over 900 points.
