Robust income growth

Vietnam's economy will rapidly change with the pace of urbanisation and prosperity in the next few years, a AC Nielsen survey on consumer trends in HCM City and Hanoi reveals.
The poll shows that two million residents in HCM City and Hanoi would earn seven million dong a month by 2010. The number of households with a monthly income of 4–7 million dong will in crease by 58%.
By 2010 Vietnam expected to breakthrough the GDP per capita of US$1,000.Since 2002 the purchasing power has grown, while the retail price increase has been a cumulative 31% since 2002, Vietnamese people's salaries on average have increased much higher, by around 73% in the same period.Aside from income increase, the research also shows the pace of urbanisation to develop strongly. It is expected to increase to 36% by 2020 and 43% by 2030.
