Short-term demand for the dong has pushed lending rates up

Four state-run banks raised interest rates on overnight loans to 6.4-6.8 percent on Monday from 6.2-6.5 percent a week ago.
Their six-month loans have been stable since late October at 8.2-8.6 percent.
Bankers said the exchange rate of the Vietnamese dong against the dollar would change little by the year-end.
